About These Photographs

The photographs on the following pages were taken in April of 2003. The order in which they are presented is meant to simulate a casual walk around the museum. Hence the majority of pictures in the first two index pages are of exhibits in the World War One/Inter War Years exhibit in Hall 1, and the next two pages concentrate on the World War Two/Korea section. The following page concentrates on aircraft displayed in the "Carrier Experience" (which is well worth the entrance fee alone!) and the tour finishes with the "Leading Edge" exhibition, with its unique collection of aircraft dominated by Concorde 002.

I experienced a number of difficulties with taking photographs at this museum. The lighting conditions in the Carrier Exhibition - although atmospheric - were not helpful to the amateur photographer, especially one who does not like using flash and is too lazy to carry a tripod around! A couple of photographs are slightly out of focus but are posted here for completness. The Corsair was photographed through a glass window with a great deal of glare (and a reflection of yours truly).Unfortunately I did not manage to take any shots of the Skua exhibit - maybe next time!

These failings aside, I hope these photographs give some idea of the quality of the collection to be found at RNAS Yeovilton. It's well worth a visit, but please make sure you set aside enough time to enjoy it in full!
